Report and comment - Degenerative Disk Disease: Is infection the possible cause?

 

In 2001 for the first time Stirling and coworkers mentioned, that infection could be the possible cause and initiator of degenerative disk changes. Since that time this hypothesis has evocted a controversy amongth spine specialists.  

In their report Dr. Elke Ruchalla and Dr. Maximilian Reinhold, M.D. summarize and comment on Prof. S. Rajasekaran paper "Is infection the possible initiator of disc disease?
